paypal money transfers

im trying to transfer $1000 to a friends paypal account.
do i need to transfer $1000 from my linked bank account into my paypal account? or will the can i go ahead and request $1000 dollars to be sent to his account without having it in my paypal account,assuming i have $1000 in my link bank account

In my understanding, when you click on a transfer, funds arrive into your paypal account from your credit card or debit (bank) account only if funds are available.

After that, funds are transferred to your friends account.

If no funds arrive to your paypal a/c, no funds can be transferred

hence ensure there is enoug funds in your bank account before you initiate the transfer

Yup - once you have it in the account linked to your paypal account then you can transfer away no problem.
