Mixing drinks .

Just thought id start a thread to see what u guys r into when ya decide to mix some of ur stuf . everyone knows the jd and coke and all that stuf anything out of the ordinary that tastes nice fell free to tell us all about ur drinks.

Ill get the ball rolling

1 bottle of WKD blue into a pint glass along with 5 red after shock dear its pretty dead alright but itl get u goin haha it tastes nice goin down but if it happens to come up it aint so good.

Pernod and black is about the only mixed drink that I'd drink. Wow, haven't had one of them in a few years now. Must get me some

That sounds dangerous. Seriously. I think after shock is a lethal drink and should be banned.

I have seen people horribly affected by After Shock, more than any other spirit. I'm not sure what it is about that drink that is so potent.
Probably it's ability to affect you in seconds.

Yup, affects me terribly. I remember when it first cam out, done about 5/6 shots of it after downing a half dozen pints.........could not actually talk!!!!:eek: :eek:

The fact it is usually drank undiluted in shots so hits you faster, it goes down easy so you can easily drink 10 shots in a short time. Most "cocktail shooters" are made from low % liquers, while aftershock is 40%. Any spirit drank like that will hit you hard, be it aftershock or tequila, but most would find aftershock more palatable than tequila and so drink more.

This summer, as very many summers before, I shall be mostly drinking...

Black Velvets: Guiness and Strongbow Cider (half of each in a pint, from tap).

Kamikazes: Sapporo (or other Japanese lager) pint, with a shot glass of sake dropped in (submarine-style).

Cuba Libres: dark rhum, lime juice (fresh), drop of angostura, drop of cane sugar (liquid), add coke, in a tumbler on lots of ice and a slice of lime.

and, not for the faint-hearted, and if in a rush to get plastered, TGVs (French play on words, based on high-speed train of same name): Tequila-Gin-Vodka (drop of each in shot glass), with dash of tonic or coke, slammed + downed in one.

And of course, ambro25's very special (real-) champagne cocktail, garanteed to put the buzz in anything morpholigically capable of swallowing it.

I can never understand people drinking Red Bull (and equivalents) - horrid stuff, tastes like a bad medicine.

Agreed that whisky and lime is easy on the tongue, with a few cubes - very common in Nothern UK, any pub landlord knows it well.

Enjoy with lots of moderation and be responsible about it.

Brandy & a good dash of peppermint cordial is a great way of "refreshing" your system mid-way through a serious Guinness session.

southern comfort, amaretto and a dash of lime (yes i tried it after the brand new song, i dont even like them but my were they bang on the button!)

or just soco and 7up.
i usually go for double socos with one 7up in a pint glass with lotsa ice. 3/4 of them and yer night is set...

or, well, you know, as much as you could comfortably drink in moderation, it isn't a terribly harsh drink on the tastebuds. that doesnt mean its not strong though so i wouldnt recommend too muhc... not to mention the price!

anyone know of a good deal on the above types of drinks?

It's great with apple juice. It's a very, very smooth vodka. Have a bottle of it in my apartment for special occasions. It has a blade of grass in the bottle.

Yep, I was given a bottle and had it lying around for ages, didnt go well with any fizzy drinks. Then my mate got a bottle thinking it was unflavoured vodka, just trying different brands. He too didnt know what to mix with, had heard me recommending apple juice and tried it. Goes VERY well. Tastes like apple tarts! sort of cinammon taste to it. Pressed apple juice is much nicer than normal clear stuff, has a nice zing to it, like biting into a acidic granny smith.

Mickey Finns is like water to go down. Doesn't mean it won't affect you though, a bottle or two...

Peach Schnapps and Blackcurrant (can be a bit sweet but very tasty)

Mac Mac (every flavour of bacardi breezer mixed... pure sex)

And my all time favourite... Gin and coke!!

I drank a pint of gin and curry sauce once....

i've been opening eyes to the beauty of TIA MARIA & ORANGE JUICE. sounds strange but tastes like the orange barley sweets of my childhood.

also, jameson and ginger ale with a slice of lime is nice

For something that's a bit more possible to drink, wouldnt this work better?

1 can lager
1 can cider
50ml vodka (2 shots?)
125ml orange squash

sounds like it could be nice!

i suppose you could make it like that, but we made it in a basin and i wasnt really giving the recipie for 1

Couple of varied ones

Surfer on Acid - 1 shot malibu and jaeger mixed with Orange Juice
Orange Sherbert - Southern Comfort white and Lucazade
Liquid Cocaine shooter - 1/3rd Peach Schnapps, Goldslager and Jaeger
After 8 shooter - Baileys & Creme de Menth mixed
Cock Sucking Cowboy (or polite Butterball) shooter - Butterscotch with baileys floated
Three wise men - Jim, Jack and Johnny
2 Wise men and a pirate - Jim & Jack + Captain Morgan
Irish Flag - Creme de menthe, Baileys and irish whiskey
Green-52 (flaming!!) - 1/3 Bailey's Irish Cream, 1/3 Tia Maria, 1/3 Absinthe, light top on fire and drink through a straw

You can also do a couple of fun ones with the likes of Blue curacao and vodka (Anti-freeze)

These are the ones I can think of now at the moment

My absolute favourite cocktail in the world is a Blue Long Island Ice Tea.

1 Part Vodka
1 Part Rum
1 Part Blue Curacao
1 Part Tequila
1 Part Gin

Mix the lot together with lots of crushed ice to get a gorgeous looking florescent blue looking liquid.

I wouldn't consider Aftershock lethal. It's a "Teenager look at me I'm hard" type of drink. Pour whiskey down their necks and they'll start crying.

For another skittle-y drink, simply mix Cointreau and Blackcurrant.

I make that in work now and again, throw in Redbull as the mixer. Goes down a treat

There are various incarnations of a Singapore Sling. Here's how I make mine and they're very nice.

2 shots Gin
1 shot Cherry Brandy
1 Shot Lemon Juice
Shake with ice, pour in glass and top up with Soda Water.

A lot of recipes suggest 1 Shot of Grenadine Syrup but I like the slightly more bitter taste without it.
