Ibood delivery problems. Possible solution

This is probably better suited to Consumer Issues but seeing as a lot of people post about Ibood in Bargain Alerts I thought I'd post here.

I was contacting Ibood about an undelivered item and told them quite a few people in Ireland were having problems with delivery.

In the email they responded with:
Thank you for responding. The reason that the delivery to Ireland goes wrong is that most of the customers place 0000 or 1234 or something else at the place where you should place your zip code. (But Ireland has none…) If our customers place a . (dot) or a – (stripe) in this place, the parcel delivery service can deliver the goods fast en right. I will discuss this matter at our office. Perhaps we can put this information on our iBOOD.com website.

Thought it might save people some hassle if they decide to order something

Yep.. they gave me this exact same excuse.

I use the Zip Code 12345 online and iBOOD are the only ones who had trouble with it!

That response smells of bull. What difference does it make to them if you put in a zip code? They just print the address and give the parcel to the delivery company.

Smells the same to me...they managed to deliver my order to Belgium..and I'd put nothing in the Zip Code section.
They'll just fob you off with any excuse.

That's just a crap excuse from iBood. I ordered that divx external hard drive last Monday, I think. It *STILL* Has not been dispatched! They promise in their faq to _deliver_ within 5 days. My postcode is in as D4 as I work in Dublin 4. If putting in 0000 is confusing their couriers, maybe they should remove this option for people outside Dublin?

Also, I can't even check my order now. I logged in last week, and it tells me my account does not exist! I was logging in with the account details THEY send ME a few days previously, which had worked fine for days. I do the 'reset password' thing, and I get a mail with a completely different username...so now I can't see my orders.

iBood seem like a very unreliable, inexperienced company. They clearly can't handle the volume of orders they get (i've heard of people having their orders cancelled because iBood had oversold their quota of whatever offer was on that day) - I don't know if i'd order off them again.

I was going to order the Bluetooth headset lastweek, but when I read the terms and conditions, Ireland isn't in their list of countries that they deliver to!

Same as... i ordered an iBood box last February and never arrived. Gave me that Zip code excuse. I said it's inexcusable and didn't want the box anymore or their shoddy service. They promised to refund my money - that was an e-mail on April 23rd.

Still nothing.. wrote them a couple of e-mails and they haven't responded. Work typical business hours and have no time to be calling them.

Never ordering from them again - calling their customer service a disgrace would be a compliment.

Jesus that's the exact same thing that happened me.
Ordered. Tried to log back in to check information, using the username listed on the confirmation email - wouldn't log me in. So I did a password reset, ie. it sends confirmation to your email address - different username altogether! So I log in using the new user/pass and there is no history of having ordered anything.

I also emailed them TWICE since about this and wanting confirmation etc. etc. and got no response!

And my CC has been charged

Yeah my CC was charged last Wednesday. A mate of mine called them earlier and the hard drives are in the UK at the moment.

The really bad news: They use GLS as couriers. *cry*

I have worked on some IT projects involving large courier companies. Some courier companies use the post code as an integral part of the tracking number. When the label is scanned the system knows what area/depot the item is destined for. The actual address may not be manually read by a human until very late in the delivery cycle.

Typically the label tracking numbers are generated by the vendor using a certain algorithym provided by the shipping company. The problem here is that the Vendor's shipping company should have provided a certain set of rules to their client for label generation for Ireland. If the system accepts 00000 and 12345 it is possible that the system reads these as a totally different geographical location and routes them accordingly or more possible that they're "rejected" by the system and further action is required by the shipping company....which may involve delays.

JFYI I found that if you CC any emails to the European Consumer Centre then Ibood are more likely to respond.
Such a sh*te company it is quite unbeleivable!

Ordered few USB flash drives back in 23rd April and finally got it today. I am considering I was the lucky one after reading all the posts here.

But I guess never IBOOD again for me.

My HD arrived today, so maybe iBood aren't the big bad after all.

But... the couriers left the box outside the door of my neighbour's apartment. They didn't ring the doorbell, or knock. Luckily I have honest neighbours ;)

Promise I don't work for them and am not affiliated in any way. I genuinely don't understand the constant gripes about the delivery delays. The items are extremely cheap; average delivery is 3-4 weeks but sometimes alot quicker and I have to say I have got some gems. Best was the recent 160GB DVD recorder with built in digital broadcast tuner. They did not say it had this but its brill. I have RTE 1; RTE 2; TV3;TnaG absolutley perfect from the above and all the BBC/Cnn/QVC etc from a separate Sat receiver. Net result is perfect reception and recording for no annual fee to NTL/Sky or anyone else. Ibood is brilliant - just be realistic about the postage and get over it. By the way, their postage is really cheap for large items and multiple items so shop away and enjoy the experience as I do!!!!!

I wish you did work for them..I could have a good shout at you :D

I'm waiting two months for items. They never respond to emails and phoning them is a waste of time and money as all I get is 'Sorry we will resend' or 'The courier made a mistake and delivered your package to Belgium'.
The European Consumer Centre is investigating ATM but apparently I'm in a queue as this company has a number of outstanding issues being looked at.

Sent them 2 emails about the Treskstor hard drives from about a month ago, One asking where the hell they were, and one about this:

I ordered 2, ONE arrived on Thursday. The packing slip in the box said there were 2.
The box wasn't physically large enough to have held 2, so it's not like I can blame GLS; iBood simply didn't send the damn thing!

I eventually got a canned response to both mails:
    Dear iBOOD'er,

Your order has been delivered today on the address you’ve provided us.

We hope you will enjoy your iBOOD purchase.

If there should be any problems with the product, please contact our customer service at customerservice@ibood.com and we will solve the problem as soon as possible.

Thank you for shopping at iBOOD.com.

If i don't hear anything by Tuesday I'll start the chargeback procedure for the 2nd drive.
Don't think I'll ever be buying from them again, cheap or not; It's not worth the hassle, their service is simply horrendous.
I'm waiting on another order too, which i've still heard nothing about since the first email, and that one was small enough to be posted airmail.

They must be selling items they don't actually have in stock. Either that or it's run out of someone's bedroom.

Since my last message here they've sent me out a replacement hard drive for the one that they 'forgot' to send. A DIFFERENT drive.
They haven't replied to my mails asking WTF they're at, I doubt i'll ever get the correct product, so i want a refund of the price difference between what I paid for and what they sent me.

Calling the bank later, I don't intend on ever dealing with iBood again...
Still waiting for SD cards I ordered in April, even the dodgy chinese ebay sellers would have had it to me by now!

I ordered a set of wireless headphones that were on it before christmas last year. The went out of stock just after the order so it was delayed by a good few weeks. But when I finally did get them they gad sent 2 for the price of 1 :)
