M203 launcher question

This is no doubt a bit of a silly question, but its a slow day so I'm gonna ask it

How do the the likes of the M203 GL's work ?
From some (admittedly very brief) googling, I get the impression you fill your cartridge with BB's and it acts as a shotgun - but what powers it ? Is the cartridge gas powered, or is the launcher spring powered ?

(I'm asking 'cos I'm looking at buying an M15A4 second hand, and theres an M203 with it)

i might be wrong but i think you fill the same shell you put the bbs in with gas like a gas pistol,exept those things fire around 150bbs so it id be a bit sorer to be on the receiving end!!

as far as a i know you charge it with gas and it blows all the bbs out like a shotguns, sounds like a good laugh. looks kinda cumbersome to load and re load but the reaction would be great, you'll have people scared witless

Yeah, thats the impression i got too....the shells cost anything from 40 to 70 euro, so I'd be looking to use the damn things more than once

At just about the 3mins 5 secs mark this lad get a hell of a hit, It looks like a grenade launcher if you ask me! Ouch!

For something to fire a shell out that big it would require a lot more than 1 joule of power to do so. So even if you could get one, you'd have to go through a lot of trouble to actually be able to import it legally.


Not to mention the fact that you'd lose all your expensive shells

You can get rubber bullets for them, the gas forces the rubber nose of the grenade off, not sure how fast though, still I wouldn't like to be on the end of one:D

Loading aint that hard. Slide the cover back, drop the shell, insert another and close cover I think.
