Do you know what the pitch is like? Doesn't sound like an amazing score, better than 60 odd all out though.

    217-5 1 over left
    Gillespie 45*

They've hardly mentioned the ptich tbh. Mostly talking about Essex cricket future

    10 off the last 227-5

Just mentioned that the pitch is good, but not particulary fast. The weather isnt great.

    Decent enough target set.

    Porterfield 88
    Gillespie 47*
White with a useful 25* off 25 balls.

Hopefully we can keep our extras low. Essex donated 20 to us. Another hat trick from Trent would be nice too!

Solid total set but the bowling looks understrength I'm afraid. No McCallan and thats a big loss. Without botha too of course so they're missing someone to strangle the batsmen in the middle period.

On another note, that jesse ryder chap better get his act together. At least hayward has taken some wickets.

    Essex 75-2 after 15

    Seemingly well in control

Convincing win for Essex in the end. 228-3 with over 8 overs to spare.

5 losses out of 5. This is getting pretty depressing. :(

Yeah the loss of Rankin, Morgan, O Brien and Botha (well recently) is a big blow for us. We are not Australia and once you take away a few players we are always going to struggle. Some of the defeats have being ok, as a lot of these county sides would compete well against many international teams, mainly Essex and Hampshire however we have not produced a quality batting performance sinces the world cup which is something we cant ignore.
