    LOL

They are super cute. Is anybody looking after the lake inhabitants apart from some vetinary students on their lunch break keeping an eye... for instance ensuring that there isn't a big metal barrier in there, which there is.

    Rofl.

I presume these parents are last year's signets? How long do swans last?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,158 ✭✭✭Stepherunie

Wouldn't that make them inbred? Eugh.

NO idea how long they last, either does wikipedia it seems.

If you freeze them instead of leaving them out, they tend to keep for longer.

    They grew up!
    How long do swans last?
The lifespan of a swan is 10-20 yrs but in the wild an average of 7yrs.

Has anybody else noticed the ducks in Glenomena? It really creeps me out seeing them there seeing as there isn't any water nearby!

Cool, hopefully they'll stick around next year. There were three or four signets there in February. I remember because my friend tried to pet them when she was drunk and the mammy swan nearly attacked her.

I was living in Merville last year and there seemed to be ducks on Finley Square constantly from about the February midterm onwards... strange place for ducks to hang around, it's definitely not wetland (or former wetland pre-development as Merville) because it's the highest area in Belfield. Does any zoology/vet student want to explain this phenomenon of ducks hanging around res?

If you can hang around at the lake why shouldn't the ducks be allowed at Finley Square? Ducks are people too.

Hey Spectator#1, what do you say we bring a duck into the library with us and see what the staff make of it? Meet you in Merville at nineteen hundred hours

I asked Librocop, if it doesn't have student card its not getting in.

Damn librocop, what does he know? He's not a real person, unlike the duck! :D

SS nobody with a heart could eat these babies! You've been hardened by those damn Germans :(

I always wondered how the Swans don't turn brown like the lake? I think Hugh Brady paints them white so they look better in the photos!

Also on a side-note about the duck fight- the swans would kick ass! It's like that rumour you always hear about a swans wing being powerfull enough to break a human's arm if you go near it! Does anybody actually know anybody who's arm was broken by a swan though?

Last years signets got turfed out by the parents, usually happens when they start getting a bit big and go all sulky and adolescent. Anyone remember them going for a wander into the Arts building?
