Well, less than half price actually

saw a lot of posts on here about LCD/plasma TVs.

Forget it and go for a better, larger picture with a projector.

I bought an infocus IN74 for 779 delivered from the infocus refurb store on ebay, with a 1 year warranty. These retails for over 1900eu here.

If you want HD ready go for the IN76 for 1129 delivered

    Hi GG66,
I have just finished building the "Den" and would love a projector for playing the Nintendo Wii and watching a little t.v. Is the one you bought suitable for that and is it easy to get replacement bulbs etc, any advice is much apprieciated.
    thanks

bulbs are always my big issue with Projectors........and the better quality the projector the higher the price of the bulb is likely to be.....

    IN74 bulb is $367

this is what puts me off buying one. That and screens are not cheap and you need total darkness so need special curtains etc.

Bought a projector off boards 3 years ago. Used it for telly/dvd/avi watching. I could never go back to watching on a puny lcd/plasma/crt. Best picture of the lot and 12 feet wide.

Never needed a screen - used a blank wall.

You will find that the people complaining about bulbs and screens will never buy a projector anyway and have next to nil experience with using them as a home solution. Ive owned a 12 foot wide top quality tv picture for 3 years at the same price as a cheap 42" lcd TODAY. (only paid 900 off boards). ive never replaced a bulb and dont expect to ever - as ill trade it for another projector long before the bulb burns out.

If you are considering a proj, Just do it.

Thats not true, i just complained about the price of bulbs however i have years of experience with projectors and home cinema. I just cant condone the expense to get one myself when i have more important things to get for the home.
Wife would kill me too :D

having had a infocus X1A refurb from lurzerntech for over 4 years, i can highly recomend them.
I'm on my second project Hidef, Epson Cimema 550 Pro. Refurb for 700 from the states.

Bulbs have never been a problem. I clocked up over 2k on the infocus and it still going very strong. over 400 on the epson and its still perfect.....

If there is going to be a problem with bulbs it will happen very early in the projectors life. but in that time fram your covered by warrenty. Never let the bulb make the decision for you. you'll regret it immensly.

honestly a well set-up projector environment will beat a 42" lcd any day of the week.

just my opinion but having been a success with refurbs i'd say go get one.
