Garmin v9 maps update problem

I bought a nuvi 300 2 weeks ago with v8 maps. Registered on garmin.com and recieved v9 cd yesterday. I went through the process as instructed including entering the 25 character un lock code from the yellow coupon in the box. This brought up a message to say the "maps had been successfully un locked". When i launched map source, it has a message in the lower right hand corner saying "maps are locked". When i click the unlock maps button it brings me back through the process of entering the 25 character code again. The "maps have been successfully unlocked" message comes up again but when i launch mapsource it still has the "maps locked" message. I have tried uninstalling and re installing the cd to no avail. In frustation i connected the gps unit to see if it would download directly. Now when i switch the unit on it has the message "cant unlock maps". No sign of v8 maps.

Any advice on what to do now would be gratfully recieved and appreciated

Did you install the v8 maps? Are you sure you're not unlocking the v8 maps instead of the v9 maps? (They can both co-exist on the same system).

Did you get a separate unlock code for v9?

I dont think so. The v8 maps were pre loaded. The cd that arrived is titled city navigator NT europe v9.
Although the unlock code i used was the one on the yellow leaflet in the original box.
If i need a new code for v9 where do i get it?

Can anyone confirm if the v9 maps contain the Charlesland Wood road in the Charlesland estate in Greystones? This appears to be in the latest TomTom Europe maps (navteq Q2 2006) but can't find it in the Garmin version 9 I've seen, which suggests that the Garmin are using Navteq maps Q1 2006.

    Any thoughts?

It just shows charlesland as a roundabout on the killnacarrig rd

You can browse the mapping yourself here.
Doesn't include Charlesland. I believe they are Q2, but obviously not quite as much Q2 as Tomtom. :)
