Not sure if this has come up before, if it has then I apolgise. I ran a good few updates today with AutoPatcher and one of the things it installed (which I am now going to remove) is Windows Defender. However, in the services list in msconfig it says the manufacturer is unknown. I thought Windows Defender was a Microsoft tool?

yeah it's microsoft ( unless a trojan is using that as an alias )

get procexp and in view - choose column command line - you can then go to the file right click on it and and look at it's properties

or fire it up and update it to see where it connects to.
