hi im interested in getting started i have been slowly writing lyrics to some of my music for the past few months but the thing is i cant really rehearse in my room because there is always somebody in the house and i feel embarassed i think i would be the same in studio so im thinking of renting some where and turning it into a studio.but im not sure if i could afford this yet .i was wondering in a professional recording studio is there anybody monitoring you or are you able to just record yourself with their gear in privacy, because i realise its stupid being embarrased especially if i was ever to perform on a stage some time which would of course be a lot worse than just in front of some studio engineer so i should just try and get used to it,but i dont think i will have a problem with that once my stuff is ready and complete but first i need to get into a studio to get it all together so can any of u tell me how private professional studios are?thanks

No ones gonna leave you alone with their expensive equipment to record whatever. Why don't you by some equipment and record at home? Your only starting, you don't need perfectly recorded and mastered tracks just yet. It would be a waste of money I think.

What type of your music are you playing? If you're just trying to get your head straight then you could get an affordable recording device and a mic and then just press record. If your house is truely occupied 24/7 and it's that much of a problem, then some gear is pretty portable.

OR... rent out a rehearsal room, most of them have a pa/mixer in the room, so you could just get your levels right and then put it out into a mini disc or laptop etc. Most places are around €80 for 5 hours or there abouts.

You need to make the step onto stage and studio. The only you can do that is by taking th plunge. We've all been there. You just have to dive in notter how nervous you get. It's amazing how quickly you come to look back and wonder why you were ever so nervous in the first place.

If you're just doing guitar and vocals then why not try out one of the many open mics around the place ... loads of places have open mics where you can just get up, play two songs and then step down. You don't even have to use your real name etc... maybe you could make a funky alias for your first time? :)
