Well this is quite different from the last trappist discussion. Yes, Westmalle is fastastic. For a while there Dunnes carried Chimay Blue, but now they have only the Red. Still between that, Duvel, and a magnum bottle of Leffe Blonde you can have a pretty good night in Belgium in the comfort of your own home.

Almost, but not quite, as good is the Westmalle Tripel. Very tasty beer, well worth trying if you come across it.

Ah yeah, I have a few bottles of the trippel here... haven't tried them yet as I find the temptation of the Dubbel... um... too tempting! :)

Should the trippel even be considered in comparison to the dubbel? Dubbel is dark and kinda sweet, the trippel looks light and is apparently fruity. :) Actually... damn the study, I'm gonna go try the trippel now! Yay!

Oh... the Leffe Bruin is also particularly lovely and may even top the Westmalle though I don't want to get hooked as I have continous source for such good stuff. :) I guess I'm a real fan of the dark beers.

Ah lads... have ye actually tried the dubbel and tripel anywhere near each other? In my opinion the dubbel beats the tripel hands down. Where as the dubbel has a lovely flavour to it that I look forward to tasting and savouring, the tripel is way too strong in alcohol... I can actually taste the alcohol and it's overpowering the rest of the flavours in the beers. Not a fan, especially of the after taste. Guess I'll be giving away the rest of my tripel stash. :p

I'll admit it does get a bit nicer after you've drunk some of it, but still... I wouldn't describe drinking it as a pleasant experience. Far too much of an alcohol taste and far too little...taste. Unless the alc is just masking a fantastic brew, either way, I don't see the point in this bad boy, which is a shame as the dubbel is 7% and yet is delish.
