Well this has been happening for a while now, its only now starting to annoy me.

Involves winamp and my speakers. Basically i will be playing a song, i then hit pause, when i come back and click play all i get is loud static  . I have to click pause again, then click play again and it will carry on playing the song.
It makes no difference how long i leave the song paused, if i click pause and play straight away i get the static. Im thinking this must be a software issue? Couldn't be the actual speakers?

    Ideas?

I'd play around with the output plugins in winamp, see if you can't sort this by tweaking buffer lengths, polling interrupts and all that jazz.
I'd also test whether this happens in any other media players... you want to narrow it down to driver/os/software player/codec level.

Try a reinstall of Winamp first.
Uninstall the current one & install it again.
