I want to buy a new computer. Budget is about €1000. I will need a monitor as well. I was looking at a Dell build for about €1100 but I want to be sure I am getting the best value for my money. I haven't much of a clue of the tech aspects of computers I'm afraid. Will be used for internet, music editing, some gaming and general other computer stuff. Anyone any ideas where is the best value is at the moment?

Well you wont get the absolute best parts from Dell you you will get the whole package cheaper because of the inclusion of a monitor by Dell.

The best value system is probably the Dimension 9200 as it has a Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB RAM, large HD, decent graphics card & 20" display.

If you go with any of the other lower end systems and upgrade them through Dell like an E520 you will end up at the same price as the 9200 but with lesser performing parts like a slower CPU, not as large HD etc. where Dell skimp the most is on the graphics card in the cheaper systems.
