.MKV Converter

    Would anyone know of any good apps to convert .MKV videos into a more common format, e.g. - .avi / divx ?

    I've tried .MKV to .AVI Converter, but the damn thing closes itself after hitting convert within 5 seconds. :o


    This .mkv format stinks, I can't understand why ANYONE would use it <_<



    P.S. - Would be great if you could do a step by guide as I'm a bit of a nub when it comes to this. :p

    What's the reason you don't like the .mkv format? Many video downloads will come in this format from now on as the quality is so high.
    Are you having trouble playing the format? If so perhaps the Combined Community Codec Pack will help...you can download this HERE.

    Simple it's far superior than the old AVI container which has many limitations and the divx container is proprietary plus MKV is also open source unlike the those two.

    MKV can contain any type of combination of video/audio or just on their own, it supports chapters, sub, soft subs, menus and more.

    Use AutoMKV if you really want to to make it into something else but for playback as hopeful said CCCP will do everything.

    Found an app. that converts it to .avi DivX / Xvid and works pretty well - and it's free! :D
