Does anyone know if it's possible to have Seasonal Affective Disorder in summertime. If so what are the causes and how does in manifest itself? I've hit low patches the last two summers and it's happening again now, I'm beginning to wonder if this could be the reason.
    Thanks

Do many of your friends go away for the summer? That might contribute to the problem?

Hi op, i'm not sure about inverse sad. I believe sad occurs because of a lack of light but i have not had any experience of it. However depression can occur without a particular trigger and can occur in cycles. This can be from an underlying cause from your past, societial factors, or something in your present that is subconsious etc (there are lots of reasons). If is affecting your life and you believe you need treatment, you should go to your doctor and ask for a referral to a counsellor who can best advise you. They may advise you to do Cognitive behavioural therapy if it is cyclical depression to find the root cause.

The same happens to me also OP, i seem to get really depressed during the summer months, i was at my lowest about 2 weeks ago when the sun was splitting the rocks.
There is a history of depression in my family, my mum suffers from it and both of my sisters did a one time, i'm very close to my parents and i call them when i'm low which i find helps me because they know the right things to say to make me feel positive again.
I plan to visit my doctor if i feel i'm getting worse, i'm doing ok at the moment but i'm taking it one day at a time and thats all anyone can really do.
Maybe you should keep a diary of when you are feeling your worst so if and when you go to see your doctor they can see if there is a pattern in your depression.
I hope things improve for you in the coming weeks and please keep us posted.
