Dublin vs Kildare or Meath

I see this is down for a double header on the 3rd of June with Louth or Wicklow vs Wexford.

I thought that Dublin would be a single header as they will sell 60,000 - 70,000 with a Dublin vs Meath or Kildare on its own.

Do people think they might change it to a single header or is it set in stone.

I shouldn't have a problem with tickets as get mine through my club

With a curtain raiser of Louth vs Wexford (as seems likely) that shouldn't eat into the ticket supply too much. Neither of those counties will have huge support (Louth smallish population/Wexford more a hurling county) so the bulk of the tickets will still be available for Dublin/Meath/Kildare. In fairness if it means a few of the sunshine Dubs don't get tickets then too bad. The real Dublin followers will still get tickets anyway.

There should be no problem with tickets for that game. I'll have mine through the club anyway to see Wexford. Don't know if I will bother sticking around to see Dublin ;):p:D

Don't know if I will bother sticking around to see Dublin (Cruiserweight)

Did you stick around for the full 70+ in 2005? :D:D:D

I'd imagine that they wouldn't change it.As already said,Louth is a small county and Wexford would outnumber them easily. You'll have more Dubs at this.

My useful contacts are gone this year so I joined the Parnell Park scheme. So when the sunshine supporters want tickets for the quarters or semi finals,I'll be laughing.

On a side note,I couldn't believe how easy it was to get tickets to Kildare-Meath game. Its as if nobody is killing for tickets, much like the Cork-Kerry semi final in Croker last year.

I'd say Kildare will just about edge out Meath.

Louth and Meath have pretty much the same population. Louth gets big crowds to games considering the lack of success they've had recently. At the Louth Meath game last year there was far more Louth fans than Meath fans.

Unfortunately Wexford football is not very well supported, so I would not be suprised if there were more Louth fans than Wexford fans :( There will be plenty of Dublin supporters, but as with all counties the real "supporters" won't be out until later rounds

Yeah I was there in 2005, but don't worry our day will come ;)

Wicklow will bring some support if/when they beat Louth:D, but still not enough to harm most Dubs chances of getting tickets.

Wicklow are said to have over 7000 tickets sold for the match tomorrow.Wicklow might pull a stroke and win resulting in a replay of the O Byrne cup fixture between Wexford and Wicklow.

Yeah CW,I was there that day in the Hill and I admit it was looking v dodgy for Dublin until they got their finger out.I came out of that game slightly sunburned, dehydrated and hoarse. It was a great game.

Wicklow do have thousands going up. Shows that we do have many sunshine fans alright

Dublin's sunshine supporters won't come out as much in June, plus it is a Bank Holiday weekend anyway. So there should be enough room for us true Dubs to go the match. I'll certainly be there.

Now we know who we are going to beat on June 3rd. :D

    Flukey,

Wouldn't be so sure - As a Louthman who stayed on to watch the Meath-Kildare game today, Meath look a far better side than they have done in some time and with Darren Fay and Moyles at full and centre back respectively, their back line looks quite strong. I'm hoping Louth can turn over Wicklow in the replay as I fancy the double header of Louth-Wexford and Dublin-Meath. Fair play to Wicklow by the way, excellent battling performance today and we were very relieved to leave Croker with a draw..

As a Dub who went to this match in very unchartered territory,I thought the standard of shooting from all four teams was diabolical.Kildare could have won this match hands down if they took their chances.Too many wides.

In the first match, which I was there for the last 20-25 minutes,I thought Wicklow were a bit dirty. They played ok defensively but too many basic errors by both teams, dropping the ball etc.Louth did well to come back from 13-9 down.Micko looked a bit aggitated on the sideline for a man who doesn't expect anything til next year. The finish was nice though.

In the second match,I was fearing a lot of Meath fans would be making trouble or at least shouting obscenities. What I got for my expectations was a group of Kildare girls behind me smelling of JD and spouting crap. They missed half of the second half due to being at the bar and the Meath fans were great in this match, hardly a word said apart from the occasional "c'mon Meath".

I could hear more fans shouting "come on you boys in green" than at the Ireland match......yes all 25 of them :D

Meath look rock solid at the back but thats about it.Elsewhere they look pretty average and as a Dub,I do not have any worries that the Meath outfit will overcome us.We play more like a unit consistently than Meath did. Before the match,I was more weary of Kildare but if Dublin played them, there would be about 11-12 points in the difference.

I'll be there in the Hill for the first time since Dublin-Laois in 2006 on 3rd June.I can't wait.

    blackbelt,

Have to agree about the lack of atmosphere. While I can fully understand that the GAA want to maximise revenue from Croker, it really makes for a pretty dull event atmosphere-wise when the place is more than half empty. Looking forward to Parnell Park next week - I would imagine it'll be full (13,500) so the atmosphere will be much better.

Agreed about the amount of wides yesterday - after 15 minutes, Meath must have had at least 5 or 6. Kildare's shooting was shocking, particulalry during one spell in the second half. That said, I think Meath are far stonger that they have been at any period in the last few years and I think they will pose Dublin some difficulties. If Meath can make it a tight low-scoring match, they'll be in with something of a shout.

As for Wicklow, second half was very frustrating from a Louth supporter's point of view. There was a huge amount of time-wasting in the second half and the change in attitude of the Wicklow players when they fell behind was particularly notable. That said, some great kicking by Tommy Gill and Leighton Glynn was exceptional throughout. I am hoping that Louth under-estimated Wicklow yesterday and it'll be a different performance come Sunday but I'm not convinced..

Not enough credit being given to Louth supporters(we easily outnumbered Wicklow supporters by 3:1 yesterday..we just had very little to make any noise about!) and too much credit being given to the actual team...they weren't dissapointing..they were bloody awful! Passing was bad, shooting was bad, making breaking ball was bad and to say they looked like they had holes in their hands would be an understatement. Where's the spark gone? Granted, alot of the boys looked tired out there yesterday but if we repeat that performance next Sunday, Wicklow will win comfortably. Louth are a better team than than they showed yesterday..hopefully they'll lift their game for Sunday. Lú abú ! LL

The sad thing about certain periods of the matches is that players seemed to just want to kick the ball anywhere and hope for the best.Whilst I thought this was prevalent in Wicklow and Kildare, they kicked the balls into the players making for a lot of blocks.

I don't know what to make of the Wicklow outfit.I must have missed their best football on Sunday. Was surprised Geraghty didn't come on in the Meath-Kildare match.I think he's only there for profile purposes at this stage and he is in the Dessie Farrell 2005 stage where he may come on as a last throw of the dice.

I'd expect Louth to win the next match in PP.Maybe Louth didn't soak up the "atmosphere" of Croke Park as good as Wicklow did.A smaller venue may play to their advantage.

Well it has been confirmed that Jason Sherlock will be out for the Dublin-Meath game with the thumb injury.Jayo will be sidelined for 4 weeks.

The good news is that Ciaran Whelan will be available after it was confirmed his groin injury is not serious.

Hopefully Wicklow can pull it out of the bag on Sunday against Louth, get in on this double-header then. And with playing Wexford, a replay of the O'Byrne cup would be nice:D
