New computer problem

    Hi there,

I hope some of you can help me out here. In my office we got two new computers. Both worked fine for a week until one just died a death on Wednesday. We called the company out, they came in, took the processor away and brought it back yesterday. They said there was a glitch with the memory. I then tried to upload some software on it and the same thing happened again. This time it is possible to turn it on (which I couldn't the first time) but it only stays on for a while before shutting off again.

I rang the company again, they said the problem sounds totally different and I have done the damage myself through uploading the software. They did say they'll take it back again but they did say that the initial problem was fixed so the softward must have corrupting the hard disk.

I used the same software earlier in the week on the other new computer and everything is fine.

I feel they are trying to shake of the liability for this but would like some tech peoples' advise. Is it possible that the problem now is totally separate to the original problem? I was told it was a memory problem and it was fixed (he did switch it on when he came back in and it was fine), but I don't know this for sure. And so can they now say that because I tried to upload software it is the company's fault?

Hmm just wondering. Any responses would be much appreciated.

    thanks.

Well the initial problem could well have been a memory issue but the most likely cause for a PC to shut itself down would be overheating.

It's extremely unlikely that installing(Uploading) software would have had anything to do with it. Remember that installing software is part & parcel of what you do with a PC. It is almost obvious that their was a problem with the system form the start & it has not been fully rectified.

Don't take any waffle from them as the machines are new & under warranty.

Just curious? Were the two machines built for you by this company? or did they just supply them?
