my prints are travelling via a black hole

Anyone know if Harvey Norman can print 10x8 photographs "in minutes" because I'm waiting on photos from Photobox that appear to have disappeared into a black hole. Or damnit, anyone in the Dublin/north Dublin area and roughly how much they'd cost

I'd do another order except I absolutely have to have them by Monday 5pm at the latest? And before you ask, they were posted on 1 May at 7am. Usually I'd have expected them 7 days ago.

Jaysus Photobox are normally bang on. Have you rung your local sorting office?

they're supposedly on their way to work which is where they usually get delivered to. I have no idea what the sorting office for here is. Might try the post room

and yeah, I know, Photobox are great. The email telling me they'd been posted is sitting in my inbox since last Tuesday week. I'm mystified.

I always find it's teh Post Office that's the problem rather than Photobox. As always I get the 'dispatched' mail minutes after submitting the order, yet it often takes up to 10 days to get them in the door. Unless photobox don't actually physically dispatch them til much later

Yeah the problem is almost certainly on the an Post side of things. I didn't get prints for a whole week at one point and bombarded them with emails because according to them they'd been delivered. It was only after the 2nd email that I actually took the time to check the ADDRESS that they'd been delivered to. My parents house ... doh.

I -did- write a grovelling apology though :-)

I've checked the address and from past experience I'm pretty sure that they have been posted. So I'm not going to argue with the idea of them being stuck in transit. They will almost certainly turn up sometime in the next month.

However, someone asked for those prints as a favour and I'm going to them - in a different country - on Tuesday morning at 6.30 and I have to work Monday. now there's an outside chance the prints will turn up on Monday but on balance I think it would be better to reprint them and be certain I have them. I know it's allegedly possible to pick up 6x4s "within minutes". What I need are 10x8s and is this possible? I can cope with having dual copies of the prints concerned; I like them myself and already have them all in 6x4 format bar one.

So much as it kills me given that I love Photobox to pieces, I really need someone to recommend a local actual non online printer that can print 10x8s within an hour or two. I'm travelling into town tomorrow and I have a preference for Fuji prints. So does anyone have any ideas? Thanks a million.

I think the fuji place on Georges street does those enlargements. It'll probably set you back a bit though. I've vaguely remember thinking the prices were pretty high. Advantage is that its the same Fuji Frontier machines that photobox use, so same ballpark in terms of quality. I presume you could also tell the tech not to make any adjustments as well.

There's a place on Dawson St that did an A4-ish print for me while I was standing there because the shop was quiet.

I print all my photos at the fuji centre in Harvey Norman Swords, they're a little bit more expensive than photobox but you get your prints virtually instantly, the people are very friendly and im sure they have a price guarantee so they might even match the price at photobox. I hink off the top of my head 8x10's are 3.29 each.

All this election rubbish is clogging up the postal system.
Important stuff is being given less priority than some crap, about political magic wands. :(

I got the prints done at Harvey Norman in Blanch where the cost, interestingly enough, was less than what I paid Photobox for them. And they were very good.

on an unrelated note, the other prints still haven't materialised.

That's good to hear. I'll be making use of them at the weekend.
Do they have the usual range of sizes available?

That's pretty interesting. Are they on Fuji Crystal Archive paper ?? Thats what those optical prints are normally done on in fuji minilabs. Did you ask them not to make any adjustments ? IE no contrast sharpening adjustments which I found to be the bane of my life when getting stuff printed before I discovered photobox.

Just a heads up, just got an email and photobox have dropped their prices making them cheaper again :)

Mine took only 2 working days to get here! Went with the cheapo delivery option as well.
    Must be just unlucky Calina.

Joined photobox last week and got 30 free prints on the first order and the quality was woeful!!!!

I just wanted to see the quality before I ordered more and wasnt impressed.
You would think that they would make an effort for new customers.

I went to Harvey norman and they were 19 c for 6 x 4's and they were far superior quality and I had them in 2 minutes. They are reasonable for larger sizes too.

Well actually I'd like to think they make an effort for ALL customers ! Seriously though, why did you find the quality 'woeful' ? what did you think was wrong with the prints ? too dark ? Is your monitor calibrated correctly ?

The photos were all blurred and the colour was very bad, the paper quality wasnt great either. At first I though it was me and my lack of photography skills however I got the exact same ones from the same card in harvey norman and couldnt believe the difference.

You are right though about them treating all customers the same in photobox but you know what I mean!
