i have a C2D macbook bought in january. just turned it on there now and the minute it comes on (boot sequence) the green light comes on for the iSight. so its on. when i log in to my user account, and click on photobooth it just shows a green image.

when i open the force quit box, the only thing running is the finder. is there any mac version of ctrl-alt-del that i can look at all the processes running in the background and see what the story is.

i havent installed any new software recently.

i tried a reboot with no success. i also then relaunched finder and no success.

i have turned off wifi cos i've heard of these programmes that record you and upload it or summat... yes, im gettin a TAD paranoid!

any ideas or any similar experiences???

Have a look at Activity Monitor, Applications>Utilities I think. That will show all the running processes.

That fix works only temporarily. The same thing happened to me, with the macbook i bought less than a week ago. I reset the SMC and the problem disappeared, but it came back a couple days later - and i rang Apple. The woman on the phone line was barely understandable and told me to repeat the same steps. It fixed it of course, but i bet it'll be back. This has only started happening since i updated X though, as far as i can see.

Happend to me once and google provided a few answers, only one worked. Remove the battery, wait a few minutes, put it back in and turn the machine back on.

Those are the basic steps that i followed (i'm sure there is a more detailed step-by-step available), the boot up afterwards was a bit slow but it works fine now and the problem hasn't returned.
