I remember seeing two side by side in a field near kilcullen around a year ago. Was off the road between Dunlavin and Kilcullen. Might be worth driving around there and see if you can spot them.

No problem mate, I'd love to have one myself.
There is one just outside Kildare town. Red with white roof and rims. I see it out on the road occasionally. It's a beauty :D

I remember getting a lift in one of those when i was hitchin round New Zealand, late 80s, from an old gent of a farmer. It was mustard colour, with white rims.
I cant recall the last one i saw, but they are cool.
Good luck with your hunting Meister

Speaking of BJ40's - Just back from California, and these are all over the place.

Don't know about anyone else, but I reckon this is one of the best retro design exercises any manufacturer has put to market.

Yep, the FJ cruiser is the coolest looking suv around at the moment. There is a silver one knocking around dublin/kildare. They look crap in silver though
Yeah they are very cool motors and capable off road too. I used a friends one extensively about 20 years ago for travelling around the country on windsurfing weekends. There must be a knack to driving them off road though, I remember getting it stuck once in soft sand in front of a growing audience and with an incoming tide and trying everything to get it out, low ratio, locking the manual front hubs etc but to no avail... that is until the guy who owned it came over, got in and just drove it out. I remember slinking quietly away!
They are very tough mechanically but will rust away like any 70 design Toyota.
FJ Cruiser, now what sort of damage do you think the VRT mob would hot you for there?

Yeah the BJ40 is a super cool machine, so many used to be used in Irerland and moist have rusted away which is a shame !

My neighbour, big into the horsey scene in th early 80's, had a blue and white one. We thought it was so cool, just super rugged looking.

I'd love one myself and that new FJ looks great but you'd have to have it in one of the early funly solid colours of the BJ !

Didn't he Gardai use them as Tow truck at one point !:)

Meister, I passed the field where I saw the two, but unfortunately they are gone. No idea where or when. :(
It was the road from Dunlavin to Hollywood, last house on the right before the quarry. Might be worth knocking on the door if you ever up that way?:)

It's a shame the new FJ Crusiers are only sold in the States (or are they in Oz aswell?) Stick a diesel engine into them and start selling them here.

Know where there is a fairly rusty looking one in Cashel/Dundrum area in Tipp. No idea whether it's a project/abandoned/for sale though. PM me if you want location.

I remember seeing a disused yellow BJ40 in Plunkett's Sand & Gravel Quarry (North Co. Westmeath) about 3 - 4 years ago. Weather it is still there or not is unknown. You could get their number from directory enquires and see if you can contact them about it.
