    Hi,

I bought the Creative Zen Vplus 4b MP3 player today and when i tried to install the drivers it says my operating system is not supported, i checked the box and it says only windows xp is supported. Does this just mean the software that i use to get the songs onto isnt supported and i can just download some other different software or is the MP3 player itself uncompatable???

    Ive windows 2000 btw

    Bump,

so is it just the software that dosent support Windows 2000 or is it the MP3 player itself and my only option is to get windows XP???

Why oh why would you buy an MP3 player marked "Windows XP Only" when you're running Windows 2000?

Your best bet is to ring Creative to see if there's a workaround or simply "upgrade" to XP or Vista (which is probably what Creative will tell you to do).

You may get away without having to upgrade your OS.

"This download contains drivers that allow PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen® players to be used with Microsoft® Windows® 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Me)or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE). For more details, read the rest of this web release note."

I taught the better question would be why would they release an mp3 player only compatible with windows xp, theres still a large community of people with windows 2000 so theyre narrowing their market down. Any Games, computer software etc are usually compatible right back to Windows 95/98. Anywho i didnt even look because i presumed this would be compatible but thanks for the link Gran, ill check it out and see if it works

That's a good question, yes, but my one was still better :p - Why, when you don't have a particular operating system, would you buy an MP3 player that's clearly marked as *ONLY* for that operating system?

Not true, and, by the looks of things, it won't be long before most new games, etc. are available for Windows Vista only. - The new versions of Adobe's creative software (such as Photoshop) and the PC version of Halo 2 for example.
I didnt even look because i presumed this would be compatible
As it's name suggests, Windows 2000 is (over) 7 years old. It's a good idea not to presume that *anything* new will necessarily be compatible with it.
but thanks for the link Gran, ill check it out and see if it works
You might be lucky on this count, but I'd suggest upgrading or at least making sure the hardware you buy in future is marked as Windows 2000 Compatible.
