    Howdy all,
I have an 02 VW Bora with 67k miles on the clock. I know it is due to get the timing belt changed but how critical is the mileage? Do you they normally fail at 60K+ or 70K+? Could I drive the car a bit longer before the belt goes or should I get it changed quicksmart?
    Thanks in advance,
    Art

I wouldn't really let any VW go past the 60,000 mile mark without replacing the belt. I've seen many snap not long after - I've also seen some (not many) make it beyond 100,000 miles.

Best bet is to do it now - if it snaps it's going to set you back an additional €1000
