"House" music...

As an fan of house (on channel 6, not 5) i've always thought the theme music was a bit odd and didn't really fit the titles properly...
Just got Season 2 on DVD as a gift yesterday and to my surprise the opening credits theme music is an excerpt of Massive Attack's "Teardrop", which fits so much better and come to think of it the TV theme sounded like a cheap imitation of.

My question is this, why one tune for the TV version and one for the DVD version??

Forget it.... found the answer meself

The Americans have the theme song "teardrop" by massive attack. due to some weird licencing issues most of The rest of the world has "house" created by Scott Donaldson and Richard Nolan.

The DVD has the lyrics from the original? Interesting! I'm used to the instrumental version - perhaps it's one done by Massive Attack themselves?

The only reason I can think of not to have it on the main one, besides artistic ones, is a copyright reason..

quite similar to Teardrop - you can be sure that they wanted to get it as close as they could to keep consistency across the brand... sounds like a slightly more polished rip-off than you'd see on TV ads trying to ride on the back of a good song without paying royalties!
