I still miss the 500ml supercans-who remembers those?
A plastic bottle just ain't the same

Probably cause plastic bottles are cheaper than cans i assume.

dunno bout cans being better that bottles either.

Bottle of Beer Vs. Can of Beer.
    Bottle wins for me anyway

I only buy a bottle of water for the bottle. and the water, but mostly to reuse the bottle. Cant reuse a can unless for recycling.

Would the cans not have carbon dioxide in em to keep em compressed? Thus, the water might taste different, no?!

Now theres a man after my own heart, I have long ponders the very question as to why water isnt availible in cans!

Coke out of a plastic bottle tastes ok.........but think about milk out of a plastic container! Its horrid......plasticy taste. Surely with water there must be a slight taste from the plastic bottle too, but we just dont notice as its 'what we expect from bottled water'.

So what do you think? You with the idea......me being an industrial design student! Are we on a winner?? :D

    Oh well done sir.

Ah but clearly everyone reuses their bottles multiple times. I always reuse bottles so therefore i'm recycling them but with a can I would get one use and lob it in to the bin.
To encourage recycling they simply should refund 20-30c for every drink bottle or can returned. Its done over in Berlin and I returned mine there!

    Oh well done sir.

    H2O well done perhaps.

Now, can we also have some Earl Crey in a can, while we're at it, Mr. Data?

Glass bottles are the nicest for it. Even though I don't really like coke

You're not supposed to refill the bottles either, though. Can't remember the reason why but hey, who needs a reason to be neurotic about it?

Can't refill bottles? heavens! I'm screwed. they probably say that to scare you to buy more bottles.

Make mine a diet water and vodka please.

dont be daft! Riverrock used to print that on their labels! I wonder why???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,566 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

    water light for me

i think its to do with people being able to see if water is clean and clear when they buy and drink it, so they'll pick the bottle over the can

also the volumes involved. there's a fair bit of coke in a bottle less in a can which suits people who don't want too much coke. With water you drink as much as you like without your teeth feeling like they're dissolving

would agree that coke in a can tastes better in most cases, might be temperature related

River rock also printed on their labels about the water being millions of years old, then next to it had a use by date.

Edit : oh I just found a bottle of it right beside me (refilled). They seemed to have dropped the ridiculous story.

^ yeah there was no logic to it other than the obvious "consume more" undertone!
