Gamestop trade-ins

has any1 had any experience trading in there old consoles,dvds and games to gamestop to upgrade for the PS3 yet. wat sort of money are you gettin off for your stuff

ie PS2 = €
10dvds=€
10 games=€

Basically im just wondering is it worth the hassle or is there a good deal to be had to get the new PS3.
and does it matter the quality of the cds.

Every cd/dvd/game has a seperate set price withing the computer system of the store. The newer a game is the more you will get for them.

Check out Xtravision's site. They have a trade in 2 games and get any game for €5 offer at the minute. I don't have all the details at the minute but it sounds like a good offer.

Xtravision would be the best place for games anyway
and i don't know about the console but i got €45 for min in GAME (big one) and the slim ps2 is €75 AFAIK

trade ins are based on stock levels in the store, not on how new it is.

A game like metal gear solid 2 was finished so fast by the public, with everyone going back to trade, you lost out on huge money with it.

A game like Gears of war, retails second hand still at the 55 mark if not more, but you will get roughly 45.

Basically if the games you are trading are not in abundance in the store, they will give you a decent price, most of the time terrible, then add their own mark up on it so they make some profit.

He got €290 off a PS3.

dont trade into gamestop they will only give u €2/€3 a game go to xtravision

My nephew traded in his PS2, controllers, some games (not sure how many, but know it wasn't a huge amount) etc. And bought a PS3, with additional controller, HDMI cable and Resistance Fall Of Man and Motor Storm and had to pay €625.

The PS2s are selling for €80 second hand and they gave him €40 for it. They even game him credit for additional controllers and memory cards which was cool.

He traded them in at Gamestop in clarehall.

Check how much they give you for each game , i traded in 12 games he added them all up and said you get X amount when i got home i noticed id got 50 cent for pro evo 4 , id rather have kept it for that kinda money even if i never played it again .

in gamestop ,you get 2 euro a dvd if the computer doesnt reconise it

for games
i got 30 euro for a pre-owned[took off sticker though] copy of red steel
also, i got 15 for metal gear acid[also preowned when bought, also sticker was taken off ] ....i only paid 15 for it

moral of story is:just buy preowned stuff and trade them back in as if thier new

To be honest they don't care if its already preowned,thats why they say it's "used" instead of "second hand"

I think your best bet at the moment is xtravision. Just a quick question, if I trade in two PS2 games, would I get a PS3 game for a fiver:D ?

Don't know about the bad feeling toward Gamestop, TBH.
My two lads traded in 2 DS games and got a brand new one, PES 6 marked at E54.
I traded in a load of old PS1 and PS2 games and got PES6 for the PS2.
Traded in Splinter Cell and PES5 for the PSP and got Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for nothing.
They will give you sod all cash, but good value on a trade or credit.
