MS Office v.X

Might be a little bit archaic but having googled several different phrases, I have come back here. Microsoft Office v.X Powerpoint is crashing (bounces a few times, see the toolbar and then shuts down) as soon as it starts up from the Apps folder, from the Dock or while trying to open a PPT file from the Finder.

I can post the log file if it would be of some use but anyone got an idea for patches or fixes or workarounds?

Try deleting preferences (.plist file) and see if that helps. Could it be a problem with the file?

    Try deleting preferences (.plist file)

will it have the word ppoint or powerpoint in the filename? There are almost 1800 on my hd?

On my machine the file is called "com.microsoft.PowerPoint.prefs.plist" spotlight that and you should find it ok.

    It's in your <system-disk>/Users/<your username>/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ folder.

Note though that I'm using Office 2004 so yours might be different if you own Office X.v

Zener all I could find was com.microsoft.PowerPoint.plist but that and is in that folder you suggested. Deleted it but still no joy. Am still trying to get hold of the original disk and will come back to this after my holiday. Thanks tho

As a matter of interest what Mac are you running it on ?

You're not the only one with this problem by the way, check the 2nd post on this page .

    /edit: This Post
suggests that installing Acrobat professional can cause Powerpoint to crash also. Have you installed this ?
