    You don't qualify for a redundancy payment if you have less than 2 years service or you are being offered suitable alternative work.

    If needs be give the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment a ring if you feel you are being short-changed - they look rather dimly on that sort of stuff...

    No. Life isn't quite that easy.

    If you're being offered alternative roles within the company on a roughly equivalent basis to the one you're doing now (and "admin" to "phone jockey" would probably be considered equivalent enough as I doubt there would be a huge differential in terms of workload/ability needed).

    I'd also check your contract, and see does what it says about your title, and what work the company can expect you to do. Many call-centre contracts tend to have a "we can determine what work you do, where you do it" type clause in it - i.e. allowing them to shuffle you off to a different department if they so feel like it.

    ye but they are being offered to apply, so their job is gone. in effect i can apply for these jobs too.

    Yes, anyone could apply for those jobs. Infact no one in my dept is remotely qualified for the positions.
