Buying Item from US Shop

Hi - hoping somebody can help me. I have found a shop in the US to buy a buggy - saving myself about €200. They will ship to Ireland no problem using USPS Airmail Parcel Post. My only fear is that it will be stopped and i will end up having to pay tax/customs etc. - does anybody have experience of this? thanks in advance. ValOS.

You'll be hit with duty at about 8% on the item cost + postage cost and then you will also have 21% VAT on this too + €5 an post clearance cost. - Then if you have a problem with the buggy you will have no choice but to dump it.

If its being sent by USPS Global priority mail, it will cost about $120 shipping and take about 7 days. If it is being sent by USPS ground it will cost about $70 shipping and take about 6 weeks.

i'd shop around locally first - try golf glider in churchtown - excellent buggys on special at 449.00 and will last a lifetime. http://www.golfglider.com/Spl_Offers.HTML

On a similar note, just so I know...

Let's say I was planning on buying roughly €250 worth of what will be marked as "toy jewellery" for resale, with shipping costs working out at another €100.

Is it true to say that I would have to pay an extra 8% of €350 for duty, and another 21% of €350 for Vat??

    Please and thanks!

As I understand it youd pay 8% (or whatever the rate of duty is) on €350 = €378, say. You then would pay 21% vat on €378.00
