I am shooting some pictures on behalf of a club this afternoon which will involve being 99.9% of kids. Do I need a waiver from the parensts, if so, anyone got one they can email me please?

    My addy is mike_anywhere@yahoo.co.uk

IANAL, however I believe it depends on a number of issues.

what will the use of the photos be?
will they be photographed in a public or private place?
will the photos be used for commerical gain?

Mike the club should sort it out for you - all youth projects have (or bloody should have!) a child protection policy (I used to be a youth work co-ordinator - they're *really* strict on policies and such). There should be something outlined there about photographs. Ask one of the organisers. If not, ask them to throw something together on headed paper from the club to distribute to the parents for them to sign. If you've been invited to do this the onus really is on the club though.

If there's nothing or if the organisers aren't sure I'd be wary. You'd be amazed how paranoid some parents can be, and its just not worth it IMHO.

The images are for the club use only ie certificates only and will taken on private land ie their club property.

Sinead - I will talk to the club secretary later.

However - if anyone has a child release form anyway, it will be worth keeping on file.

You should be fine if its just for the club's own use Mike. Have a word with them anyway. The parents have probably already signed a general waiver. I'd almost be dodgy about bringing my own if I were you. Too many legal issues.

    Mike,

A form is available on the Alamy website. Not allowed to access it here at work so no link.
