    Hi

I am new to the classic car sense as it has started to catch my eye as I see more and more of them on the roads.

Can someone explain how a car is classed as a classic.

    Many thanks

IMO there's three important considerations as to what is a "classic".

    - For insurance, circa 20+ years is the cut off.
    - For NCT/Tax/VRT exemption, 30+ years from date of registration.
    - Finally, and importantly, whether or not you believe a car is classic or not.

Some people love 80's Toyotas, some love American muscle car, and others love the really old stuff (more vintage though I suppose). Classics are in the eye of the beholder.

    What's got your eye? :)

as far as I am aware this is the definition for older cars.....

    Antique - Pre 1905
    Veteran - 1905-1918
    Vintage - 1918-1930
    Post Vintage - 1931-1939
    Classic - 1940-1973

Yeah i was thinking early 90's Toyota or Opel.

I didnt think a car had to be that old for insurance purposes.

    Thanks for the info lads.
