    Hi All,

Seems to be an Irish co. going against Bebo - www.nimble.ie .
    Any thought?

Seems cool and their membership numbers are growing quickly.

    :)

and if javascript errors and bad CSS kept people from websites, I doubt myspace would be so popular!!

alright dangerman, I checked it out properly and you win, it's also full of server side errors which would ruin things. It also looks like a haven for pedophiles as well, considering it shows people's age at all ages and yet is set up like a dating site.

Yikers, that's he first time I had a close look at the procedures on that site and it's pretty shocking.

Apart from the tech details and little things like the spelling mistakes in registration process, the fact that their just allowing to the more serious stuff (locations and ages of kids on display, with full pictures, an ability to email them) is a serious security issue. No "Report This" functionality..instead you need to go and mail them manually etc. No clear guidelines on underage usage, no statement about moderation policy, no safety advice...the list goes on...

It's a bigger heap of junk than Bebo was when Bebo launched. I reckon they've missed the boat, and they're doing some pretty shady stuff too. For example, they ask for your Bebo name and password, then (I think) they go and message all your friends on Bebo saying that you've "moved" to nimble.

I can't see it working, or hanging around long. It has no competitive edge over Bebo, and it doesn't work half as well. The whole "but it's Irish" thing just doesn't work.

so lads what do you think makes a good social network site ?

One that has numerous options, yet is structured not to be too cluttered.
A fine line needs to be drawn between being editable and skinable and being an eyesore. Apps, they need to be minimal.
Apps are fine, but i'd suggest the owners of the site choose apps to allow instead of making it totally open to every spam quiz.

I asked this question before and got no real answers.

I think this is started by a graduate of DIT, a guy with an american accent who said he was a graduate and looking to start of this site was asking for peoples opinions on logos. I guess he got it off the ground.

Serious issues regarding the security though

edit: obviously the guy was a swede http://www.nimble.ie/external/about.html
