Who has successfully paired a card to Sky HD with no phone line?

    Right,
There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet about weather this is possible or not. I got a sky+ box a few months ago and pairing it with my existing card from normal sky was quick and easy. The sky rep didn't ask if it was connected to a phone line. She just took the datails of the new box and existing card and that was that.

Will it be the same if I buy a HD box from ebay? i.e. I have read that sky reps will not pair a card to sky HD boxes without a phoneline connected.

So has anyone here been able to get a rep to pair their old card with a new HD box without a phoneline?

If so, how did you go about it, sweet talk the rep etc?

    thanks

When talking to sky, let them hear what they have been programmed to respond to...

After supplying sky your new or ebay HD box numbers, you will be asked the following...

Q, Is your phone line connected ?
    A, Yes
Q, Press Services No:4 & No: 7, what is the on screen message ?
    A, Telephone line busy

Thats it, don't make any big issues or explanations about anything, if your HD or Sky+ features are not working by the same time the next day(not 4hours), then ring them back, Sky will then send manual signals to activate the HD channels, if they hadn't already. Regarding the card getting paired to the box that happens instantly, that part is done over the dish.

The phone line is never used to activate the card on any Sky system. It's just unless they think you have it when they want it, they won't add the activation signal to the carousel on the satellite data.

The phone line callback is used to activate all sky cards in Ireland on all systems, its also used at sky's end when they send signals to the box asking it to phone home so to speak, when a box phones home, it gets authorized and an activation signal is sent through the phone line (pairing of cards is done over the dish), were talking about upgrading to HD, I'm telling the guy how its done, tell sky your telephone line is connected regardless. They will either request a callback from the box or send the signals manually, if one of these methods fails, you should ring back the next day.

Sky set parameters on there systems, a callback activate those, if they fail, manual satellite signals are sent through your dish.
