He was around govt. buildings for most of the morning. Frank Kelly is his campaign manager, by the looks of things!

One of the points on his manifesto is "I will abolish children's allowance, so you can have as many children as you like".... Nice.

Later this evening the litter warden was taking them down from the poles along Merrion St. Upr.

Great stunt, although I'm pretty sure the bus driver must have been driven demented having to listen to the same "Vote Mr Tayto" song over and over.

Sorry to get a little bit over excited, but, OH MY GOD, I'm coming out of college today at about half past four, hear a loudspeaker blaring, look up and see a giant red double decker bus with Mr Tayto on the side along with assorted election slogans...'twas a good day :)

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,009 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

There's a Tayto bus too. Saw it today at about 17:10 turning onto Westmoreland St. It was loudly telling people to vote for Mr. Tayto. Yer only man.

This isn't working for me. Is there an official website?

It occurs to me that Mr. Tayto looks not all together unlike our current Taoiseach.

If Mr Tayto wins the election and forms a coalition agreement with Dustin the Turkey, they'd probably do a better and more competent job of running the country than the present shower.

    It wouldn't bee hard....

I havent seen the posters but yes you do have to register as a candidate to put up posters and there is also certain dimensions posters must be or they can be removed

The posters were also too low, the base of them was about four foot from the ground, making them a hazard for pedestrians, particularly vision impaired people.

I saw one at the bus stop today

"Mr Tayto on the hole in the ozone layer

-We'll have to look into it"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

Thething is election posters are allowed under bye law anything else that does not have sanction by the local authories is littering and Tatyo could be looking at a hell of an over all fine for the stunt.

The two adverts I saw were:

Mr. Tayto's thoughts on the peace process:
'The Northside and Southside should work together to bring about peace'

Mr. Tayto's thoughts on the hole in the ozone layer:
'We should definitely look into it'

    :)

Eh, us "vision impaired" people are more affected by the "official" election posters. The Mr. Tayto ones aren't going to be up as long as they will be, plus they're in very, very few locations in comparison.

    I saw -

Mr.Tayto's thoughts on climate change -

"I don't see a problem with a week or two in the canaries"

Anyone else see the tayto brigade in the city centre on Saturday?

I was on Dame Street when I heard lots of beeping, and it was a jeep with a "Mr. Tayto No. 1" poster on the front and back. I smiled at this, continued walking, and suddenly there was more beeping behind me. There was a tractor with the posters on the front pulling a huge trailer full of spuds with a Mr. Tayto standing in it waving to everyone.

    Bravo, Tayto.

Indeed, an important issue which hopefully he'll sort out that if he gets elected...

Mr. Tayto has a website: http://www.mrtayto.ie/ and a song(!) http://www.outersounds.ie

    It's called Guerrilla Marketing.
Fair dues to the team who came up with it-there are getting huge publicity
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrilla_marketing

I seem to remember Homer Simpson and Mickey Mouse got a certain fraction of a percent of a US Presidental Election.
People having a laugh while spoiling their votes.

Imagine you were a genuine candidate and Mr.Tayto outpolled you
    You'd nearly emigrate with shame
