Has anyone ever heard of an extension that does something like this? Often, despite your best efforts you end up with several FF windows open simultaneously, cluttering up your taskbar. It would be nice to be able to click a button and close all extra FF windows while reopening their pages in new tabs in the current window.

I got into the habbit of middle-clicking almost every link... never found it to be a problem.

Yeah, but some folks just won't learn to middle-click and I often come home to sixteen windows open, all with 'important' stuff open :)

    Aaaah I see.
I'd say it's more likely there's a plugin to force all new links into tabs.
Gathering up existing windows sounds tricky IMO.

Left Ctrl + Left Mouse click - opens link in new tab :)

Tools > Options > Tabs tab. Select "New pages should be opened: in a new tab".
