What variations of Glenfiddich are available in Ireland and what's the approx price range on them? I can only remember seeing the 12year old, yet I think I saw a greenish-boxed one.

The 12 yr old is widely available, but they have a wider range. The other common one is the 18 yr old. They have a Solera Reserve (15 yrs), a Gran Reserva (21 yrs) and a 30 yr old. Only the first few can be found in Ireland, really.

They'd also have special editions now and again. They might have somehting especially for Duty Free.

Which one is in a green box? I had two 18year old girls in the shop looking for the green one. Apparently they had a house party and someone stole/drank a bottle of glenfiddich in a green box. I sold them the 12year old to fill the place, but if it was wrong I said they could bring it back... but I'm pretty sure it's the wrong one.

What sort of idiot has a house party and leaves the aul drinks cabinet unlocked? :P

I don't drink it on principle. Their basic offering is piss. They are all marketing and no substance. If you want a brash new-commer try MacAllen. From their basic offering forward its pure bliss.

It's a matter of taste, of course. I don't like Glenfiddich or Macallan. The Glenfiddich Solera reserve is very nice, however.

And the Macallan marketing division is one of the most powerful, and unethical. They bought lots of fake Macallan from the early part of the last century, and then created a number of malts based on the flavour profile of these buys. They found out that they were all fake, but didn't let on.

Again, just a matter of taste, but I don't think their whisky is very good at all.

They've also remarketed their stuff as fine oak. It was previously all matured in fine sherry wood, but they ran out or something. Now they push this fine oak nonsense, even though it's worse than their old stuff. It tastes like Glenmorangie to me, which I don't think is very nice either.

Many many people are turning against Macallan.
