We're looking at doing some interrailing for 2 weeks or so.

Places include Croatia, Slovakia and Bosnia ... what are these places like? Are they safe?

I keep thinking of the news a few years ago with peacekeepers and what not.

I was in Croatia three weeks ago and no probs at all, very cheap and the people are sound. Also a few friends travelled to Solvena earlier in the year and they had a great time, no probs there either.

We're trying to find a good spot to stop in Slovakia. We're going from Budapest to Krakow ... we were gonna choose Koisce but it turns out there's about 50 changes between there and Krakow because of a mountain range :(

Our inter-railing route goes around there this summer too but staying out of bosnia:

    1. Amsterdam
    2. Dortmund
    3. Berlin
    4. Prague
    5. Vienna
    6. Bratislava
    7. Budapest
    8. Zagreb
    9. Ljubljana
    10. Venice
    11. Florence
    12. Rome

...home. Of course that's not set in stone! We're getting a 1 month pass and we think we'll sleep on night trains whenever we get de chance.

I was in Slovakia last year, near Kosice. Went to a ice hockey game there, €8 for front row seat tickets. The people where really cool in the town we where in and treated us like kings buying us drink and getting us stonned it was great.

Try and get to Cesky Krumlov in Czech, it's an old medievil town perfectly preserved, its where they film hostel really cool looking town. It's down in the south east of the country.

I passed through Bratislava inter-railin' last summer. It's really nice, not too much to do, but it's dirt cheap aswell.

    9. Ljubljana

It can be very quiet there during the summer. If you can head for Lake Bled instead.

im going interrailing with a few mates next summer but i'll still only be 17. We'll be visiting Holland, Germany, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Czech rep., croatia and serbia. I'm just wondering will i have any problem going out at night with my mates(who will all be 18) or getting served at pubs etc. in these countries. Thanks a lot!

Slovakia is ****, don't go there, trust me on that

I went interrailing this summer when I was 19, didn't get asked for i.d. once, a lot of the time we were drinking during the day, only went to night clubs a few times and some of these didnt even have bouncers

I don't think 18 is the drinking age in all of these countries, its 15, 16 or 17 in a lot of European places

drop Dortmund there bud and go straight to Berlin, not much to do in Dortmund, while Berlin is absolutely cracking - possibly the best city in Europe - enjoy!
