PC based mapping software

Hi, I've been looking for some decent PC based mapping software ever since I flug Autoroute out my window. From the 2002 edition onwards it's been truley awful outside Dublin and the other cities. I was wondering if anybody knows of mapping software based on the Navteq maps (or any other decent ~100% coverege maps).

I'd prefer to use my laptop (big screen!) and hook my GPS up to that, so a self contained device is no use to me really.

    Thanks...

I know how you feel and would like to know as well, I bought AR2007 the other week :( it uses 2005 Navteq maps :/ which is abit misleading .

    This site: http://www.uk.map24.com/
uses the latest NavTeq mapping, and is free, but is obviously a live web-based tool (and doesn't integrate with your GPS device).

How about Route 66's products? Do they do any PC-based software?
Don't know anything about them I'm afraid, other than they use Navteq maps.

I looked into this a while back. Could find no PC-based product that uses Navteq maps.

There is a product called PC Mavigator 6 (http://directions.ltd.uk/laptop-navigation/) that uses relatively recent Tele Atlas maps, and isn't too bad. I sold my copy of it a while back on adverts.ie. I found the coverage to be *fairly* good, especially of urban areas.

Alternatively, you can download the free Pocket PC emulator from Microsoft's website, and run PDA apps on it. Attached is a screenshot of tomtom 6 running on my PC. Not ideal, but it works.
