of course you realize the fact, that you'll be able to play american Blue Ray discs only? of course I'm talking about movies, because games are so far region-free and it shoudn't change

At the moment the majority of Blu-rays are region free, but that will change if the format becomes more popular over here(not likely with the crap selection available to european buyers compared to America).
All the PS3 games will work no prob as they are region free.
PS2/PS1 games are region encoded and wont work on the american system, neither will any of your DVD's unless you get them from america.

I got mine in Best Buy for $600+ tax. With the demand calming down I don't think you will have much problem picking one up.Try the Gamestop website they have a store locater and it tells you how much each store in your chosen area has.I had no problems bringing it on with Aer Lingus, just be warned it's very heavy at 7kg so it will push you over your carry on limit.Just separate the console from the accessories and you should be fine.

I wouldnt be that pushed about blu-ray and any of them I buy will more than likely be got on the internet anyways.

Did you leave the PS3 in luggage? In its box?

No took it out of the box and put the console into a carry on bag.Flattened the box and put it at the end of my suitcase with all the leads, controller etc. There is no way in Hell I would check it in.
