Sitting here at the moment watching the classic Battle of the River plate and am trying to remember another marine WW2 flick but can only really remember the end.

Basically the ship in question has taken heavy damage and the prop shaft bent (me thinks)and useless the bridge had been blown up leaving the captain on his death bed in his cabin and his final suggestion was to launch all other ancilliary boats on board to tow the ship to safety.

This is driving me nuts any help gratefully recieved

Was it a German, American or British ship (that should help narrow it down!)?

Battle of Midway? Charlton Heston leads all star cast re-acting to WW2 stock footage?

I know the film you're talking about and I'm fairly sure it was on St.Stephens day 2006.

Not sure which channel though. Not sure how to search TV listings in the past

It wasn't Charlton Heston, mike 65
Did the captian look youngish but had gray/white hair?

EDIT: I may be thinking of another filn
Trailer here, so you can decide yourself OP
