Please do not use the term "weapon". A weapon is something which is used to hurt or maim. Airsoft is a sport. We do not want to hurt and maim each other. (In most cases anyway...)

As for the topic...I once didn't like AUGs at all. After firing the CA one my opinion changed instantly. It's a great piece.

The CA Steyr AUG is ment to be a really good AEG. One site gave it a perfect review score of 10/10. You get the same barrel length as a full size M16 with something that is only a little longer than a G36C.

The only thing with the A1 is that you are stuck with the 1.5x sight unless you buy another top reciever.

With the A2 you get an open rail in place of the standard sight which will allow you to add any RDS, scope or flip up iron sights you like. So if you went with the A2 you would have to buy a sight to go with it because it does not have any out of the box.

I think they are the only UK site that actually have them in stock right now. The CA AUGs are sold out everywhere else.

I have one! Its Awesome. ASI I gave it 30/30 and a "TOP-GUN" Award. Just the gun(No shipping/batteries ect. included) cost me €204! But worth every penny. Only prob is little long for CQB. Can get a Tightbore(More accurate barell) from RSOV and that will pimp it even further.

You find the Styer Aug too long for CQB? Really? I thought the bullpup config would have made it work fine. I know my Famas works out great.

Well, was too big for the hotel in pred and never used it in HRTA yet(I have to get down again soon).

I'd say just a tad long...

Where did you get the CA AUG for €204!

On UK sites it costs £220.

Its still cheaper than buying it from the UK.

Thats €322 for the AUG and ~ €13 for shipping from the UK.

One AUG from HK @ €204 + shipping on a 3.5kg package to here would be alot less than €155 sincce its only one AEG.

Forgot about the VAT and customs charges. Never mind.

Vat was 170 for 3 guns so wouldt be too much.

Seen Shortened Augs! NO WAY, looks so stupid. Also, you buy an aug for Accuracy! Cutting the Barell = less accurate!

    barrels.jpg

Have to agree, the SMG and carbine versions don't have the 'look' about them.

The light support HBAR with the extended mag looks mean.

The thing that always annoyed me about it is the mag. I really don't like the design of it. Apart from that it's lovely looking. Especially in OD.

as far as real guns go the g36 is supposed to be the best 5.56mm assault rifle around, its used by the army ranger wing and other special forces.i think the styer is a deadly weapon tho, well ahead of its time and still no problems found with the"real steal" to date+the ca aug was voted best gun of the year by ai magazine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

The Army Ranger Wing do not use the G36. They use the Steyr AUG A2 with M203s. They are getting the A3 versions in the near future.

The best 5.56 is supposed to be the HK416, even though its very close to the G36 in operation the 416 is more accurate and flexable.

the ranger wing use a range of weapons depending on their operational role, although your right the steyr is their main weapon.im wouldnt be sure about the best 5.56 but the sa80,id say would be the worst,it jams more than bob marley and little has been done to change this in the a2,ive heard the airsoft version of this gun had its problems aswell...id say the aug is the best 4 bullpup designs

JG Aug mags are Black and look much better! ANd they are really cheap and fit better than CA Ones.
