I just had a go at downloading it in firefox an there was no problem. I've run into problems with files over the gigabite mark with some download managers but they'd usually screw up the filesize rather than say the file doesn't exist.

i got it continued from another mirror, as you say, maybe the size has something to do with it.
    220 ftp.heanet.ie FTP server ready.
    User (ftp.heanet.ie:(none)): anonymous
331 Guest login ok, type your name as password.
    Password:
230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.
    ftp> cd /mirrors/ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-11.0-iso
    250 CWD command successful.
    ftp> quote size
    500 'SIZE': command not understood.
    ftp> quote size slackware-11.0-install-dvd.iso
    Connection closed by remote host.

seems that server doesn't properly implement SIZE command..??

What kind of filesystem did you download it to?
Type in mount and look for the disk containing your home directory or wherever you downloaded it to.
Check the filesystem after the word 'type'.
Some older filesystems won't allow you have a file larger than 2GB.
If that's the case, you might be able to move the file to another partition and continue the download.

no, filesystem wasn't problem, i got the full iso eventually but did so from another mirror.
the heanet ftp server didn't support SIZE command, it returned error, and wget then reported that the remote file didn't exist...even though it did.
    all sorted now, cheers.
