Hi all TOTAL newbie here. Bought a lite-on last xmas (to me, from me, for being me.), 160 gb no issues with recording to HDD started to copy some progs to disk a few weeks ago no problems. The last few days how ever I've not been able to copy ANYTHING. Same disks ( borrowed them from it at work) and it shows that the disk has been copied to but when I try to play on other machine I get the message "can't read format". I've "finished" the disks as instructed. It's even gotten to the stage where I put a new disk in and it starts to "read disk" then it just opens the dvd holder and I can do nothing as every time i put the dvd back in it does the same thing. I'm using dvd rw+ but lite on takes + and - . I bought new disks from tesco and not one has worked. any help would be great

It could be poor quality media you are using if you where unlucky enough to have acquired some from other various different sources & it is possible to have bad discs in an otherwise good batch.

In general anything media wise from Verbatim should be good to use so try getting hold of some of those discs.

Also finalize the disc after you are done with it in the player this will make it more compatible with other DVD drives.

Last but not least update the firmware of the DVD recorder you will find the model number under the audio/video section. This will increase the media compatibility table of the DVDRW inside it.
