I got myself a new usb dtv stick of ebay i got it from a guy in the UK here is a link to it . i got it new and unopened
    http://vgear.com/products/list.asp?ProdID=AMVG1-016-002
The idea was to use it with my media center laptop but when i run the tv setup in MCE it tells me when i select ireland that the stick is not supported in my region but yet if i pick the UK it will run the rest of the set-up .then if i run the software that comes with it .it seems to have about 10 english channels pre programed into it the likes of bcc3 and so on .but it wont show any of them which i know it wont all i wanted was the normal 4 channels from 3 rocks .
The last usb dtv i had worked fine even with the small aerial it picked up the for RTE channels fine without any problem but it wasnt compat with MCE ive tried lots of different drivers and so on such as the BDA drivers i know that this USB stick runs the same drivers as other brands USB sticks such as freecom and Yakumo to name a few the all seem to be the same hardware .i was hoping to find some frimware update so i could just flash it and reset it .
Anyone out there got any ideas how i could sort this problem out ?
    Thanks in advance

I don't see anywhere on that link where the DVB-T tuner mentions MCE compatibility like this one for instance which is a specific requirement are you certain it is ?

The chip which is generic inside it & as you say used by others vendors could still have a slightly different PCI vendor ID on it which means the flag for MCE compatibility "might" not be set in the driver.

Try the DVB Portal TV or DVB Viewer* software & see if you can pick anything up with it.

*It seems DVB Viewer is no longer freely available.

its very strange but even when i use the defualt software or just the raw driver and use MCE it still keeps bringing up the uk ftv channels the error in MCE is not that its not compat with MCE but that its not compat with the regeion it sets itself to the uk by default in the TV setup in MCE
Then when i run the software that comes with it " usb DTV stick " it shows all the uk fta channels but it has a lock icon over each of them .ive even downloaded the BDA generic drivers but there Im thinking the uk channels are imbeded into the chip on the stick i wonder if there is any way of flashing it ?????
    heres the specs of it

ive tried both the software links you have listed below and no joy but thanks for the reply .i think ill just dump it and pick up another one .seems it only cost me 20 with p+p

    Input Terminal: 75 Ohm
Receiving frequency: 48.25 ~ 863.25 MHz tuning range

According to the manufacturer site that is a digital tuner and has no analogue tuner.

You won't be able to pick up RTE etc on a digital tuner as they are analogue only.

sorry ur wrong there ive been watching the 4 irish channels on a digital tuner for months now since the DTT trails started months back .
also i did try change the region settings in MCE and thats the error that keeps coming up in the picture above .
BTW in the end ive given up on this tuner and moved onto the Hauppauge HVR 900 which is a hybrid and also a radio tuner so this is working fine in both digital and analogue but im still having some problems setting up the digial in MCE but im not to pushed as i got the tuner at a cheap price .so thats it new card and still no Digital tv in MCE but i think theres a plug in out there somewhere for it .
