Anyone ever hear of this? Been reading about it online but alot of topics have been biased. What exactly is it and whats the big fuss over the CDC in america not investigating it??

Yea i read a bit about it before, its bascially a skin condition but sufferers also often report other symptoms including mental confusion, fatigue, memory loss and serious neurological disease. Some research has been done in Oklahoma State University and the State University of New York. So far it is not yet known what it is caused by or how it is spread although the number of cases being reported is increasing. As far as I know the CDC have agreed to officially investigate Morgellons disease in California.

The CDC are looking into it!

Many topics can be biased as anywhere else. Until the research is undertaken, then it is not possible to diagnose it until it is listed and classified as a disease.

There are many conditions described which have biopsychiatric component - which at times can be difficult to distinguish. I reserve judgement on the existence of this condition until there is concrete, large scale medical research documenting it.

    Wait and see.

I did some research on this a couple weeks ago. Seems the ruling opinion among doctors is that its mostly mass hysteria and delusional parasitosis. Many doctors will say "Yes, yes, you have Morgellon's Disease" and then use other treatments, such as "One doctor, declining to be named for a news article, indicated that he treats patients simply by placing a cast over the affected area of skin, protecting it from the patient's scratching, which results in healing in a matter of weeks." (from wikipedia)

I think I have developed this condition have it one and a half years now. Have been reading a lot of material about it. I have been to the doctor on two occassions and they dont know what it is. Have treated me for scabies as I suggested this may be what it is but nothing worked. Have been to another skin pharmacist and nothing he gave me worked. I present with a lot of the symptoms and no I am not crazy.

I have a hamotology appointment in December to check the blood and an appointment for a dermotologist in January. If I get no answers or cure I will be requesting that I get referred to the tropical disease unit in Beaumount Hospital to have it further checked out.

    Everything is worth a try.

It is far from being delusional, how can one comment on a condition they do not suffer from.
