Sunday Times Magazine - Picture Error!

Did anyone spot the picture error on page 53 of today's Sunday Times Magazine?

In a lengthy article about Tony Blair, the picture on page 53 is captioned "Blair's Legacy" and shows none other than our very own Michael Noonan with protesting members of the INO and SIPTU Nursing presumably taken during a dispute when he was leader of the opposition.

I wonder what the great British public will make of it! :)

Is there an "Irish edition" of the magazine, or would you say this is the one the UK got too?

I wonder how they made that kind of a mistake - not like the names are similar even!

They would have been searching through one of the photo libraries prob using key words like labour health service and they got the Irish image. Probably a junior. I spotted it this morning also. There isnt an actual Irish edition but Irish ads can be slipped in on ad pages, something like the sky magazine.

That's probably the case, but if the article (which I haven't read, by the way) was a general "Blair's Legacy", is there any reason they'd be looking for a health service pic (I assume the article references the trouble in the NHS), and why would Noonan turn up for Labour?!

Flo maybe have a look at the piece and you will have a better understanding. Yes its about Blairs legacy, obviously health was an issue for his government, the pic is one of a health protest and it just happens Noonan was there (as were other politicians) and there were Labour (Irish) placards. As I said a search was prob done using certian key words like health and labour and this came up and prob didnt state that it was an Irish pic or maybe it did and was overlooked.

Well that explains it so - most likely to be the reason the pic came up in their archive search but certainly a howler for them to miss.

Here are those 11 photos in a date-ordered animation.

Scary is'nt it? Though to be fair to Blair he hit number 10 at that point when middle-age kicks in big time. The difference between mid forties and mid fifties in a man is huge.

    Mike.

What has that got to do with this topic?

The resemblance of the circa 1950 bat to 2007 Blair amused me, but I don't get out much.

I have the English edition in my hands right now and can confirm that Mr. Noonan is there is all his glory :D

If you look carefuly too you can see that the guy beside Noonan is holding a SIPTU poster :D

I'd say the folk over here are wondering what the hell that's all about!

The Siptu poster was the first thing I noticed. I was thinking "SIPTU's in Britain?"
I doubt many British readers even noticed.
