Just cancelled SKY Movies after about 10 years because of the new format and poor standards. Has anyone else done this.

I've always thought it bad value, prefering to buy VHS then DVDs.

Yep I cancelled about 3 weeks ago too after having the full package since about 1992 on cable then satellite - also dropped the Sports, Sky+ functions (handy but not worth an extra €15 a month), and down to 2 mixes.

I haven't missed it once in that time. Been keeping the occasional eye on what's been on though and Film4, TCN and the terrestrials have had better films showing in that time in my opinion. From reading a similar thread over on Digitalspy it seems a lot of people have cancelled - to the point that Sky have a dedicated "cancel Sky movies" option on their phone system now?

For myself anyway I'll be putting the money saved (about €44 a month) to DVDs from play.com, cdwow etc. Can get everything from there anyway, without on-screen logos, breaks or other interruptions.

without on-screen logos, breaks or other interruptions.

There are none of those on Sky movies , they play all the way through without any interruptions ,

Having said that , I am cancelling because I hate the new format and there is nothing on at night , I work nights permanently , and on my days / Nights off I like to have something to look at besides " programmes dont start till xxxxpm " . So its DVD's for me as well !!

If so many are cancelling, surely Sky would be considering another change or even a change back to the way it was?

I did subscribe to the movies for a long time.
Dropped it a while back and looking at the schedules now, I must say it looks to be even worse than it had got around the time I had canceled.

i was surprised that they didnt even try to offer us a sweetner to keep movies, they usually offer something.

I'm cancelling the whole €66 pack today.
been a customer for lots of years.

Since taking the whole sat hobby seriously, I discovered that there are
so many cost effective alternatives available to me such as DTT, multi LNBs, ART. etc.,
I won't continue paying nearly 800 a year for stuff that I mostly already have.
