I am thinking of buying silvercrest camping satellite system from Lidi and was wondering if it is possible to tune same into RTE whilst on holiday in france.

Afraid you won't be able to get RTE. All the Irish channels are encrypted and would need an active Sky subscription. You should be able to pick up Free to Air channels. All of the BBC and ITV channels along with news channels such as Sky News and CNN.

Have a look through this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Sky_Digital_in_the_UK_and_Ireland

Any channl down as being FTA, you'll be able to receive.

Wether or not you'll be able to pick up the signal well enough using the Lidl system I don't know.

The dish is too small. As you move away from channel you will quickly lose BBC & ITV. Some parts of France need over 1m dish for BBC/ITV. It will receive German TV easily in most of France.

Take an 1m dish and a Sky Digibox, unless you are near the Channel, where a 45cm Dish & Sky Digibox will work. (Sky sub required).
