    Hi,

Just started playing a bit of poker again over the last few days coz I don't like studying for college! Low limits so might not be too exciting. Just wondering what some of the more knowledgeable people would have done with these hands?

Stats are in this format (not sure if these are the stats that people use here??):

I'm definately not the best to give advice... but hell.

#1 I'd raise more PF. I'm a call station so I'd probably call the river.
#2 I fold, I'd expect to see something like Q10.
#3 Raise PF, as played.... I'd call.

Hand 1 is fine preflop. I wouldn't bet this flop. generally speaking with KK on a A high flop I try to get to showdown if I can as cheaply as possible.. If you think he will try to bluff then call him down. If you think he has it fold.
    Played as is I call.

    2) I call but then I'm a station..

    3) call for same reason already stated.. but your often shown a flush here..

Firstly we usually type stats for the Villains as follows VPiP/PFR/AF/Hands, the AF is quite important so we can tell how aggressive your opponent is after the flop.

    1. Never min-raise, no matter what you have. Make it 3 or 4 to go and the rest of the hand is much easier, the flop is fine, although you should probably be betting from 1/2-3/4 of the pot as standard. Once you are called here you should be done with the hand.

    2. As a rule what you should do is raise it 3/4 BB's and add 1 for every limper, so in this hand if you are raising you should make it 1.75 to go but 1.25 isn't too bad, although when raising from the Blinds you are going to be out of position (OOP) for the rest of the hand with a very mediocre hand, personally I'd probably just complete my blind and see what develops, if I am raising PF OOP I like to bet on the high side. Again your continuation bet is fine and after the min-raise it's dependant on what I've seen him limping with as to what I'd do. You could fold there but if you've seen him make similar plays with draws before I might call and re-evaluate on the turn. It's basically the whole problem with having to play this hand OOP and why you should have just called PF.

    3. I'm not sure what happened on the flop, I presume you bet .65 and he called .65 and not .40?? It seems fine and I'd call the River.

    1. Call. Raise to $3.50-4 pf.
    2. Call.
    3. Call.

    But I'm sh1t.

    1) raise between $3-$5 PRF avoiding difficult decisions later in the hand but call as played.

    2) raise PRF but since you didn't fold on the flop and don't get into a messy situation or reraise because you are confident you have the best hand and can't put him on 68o/J8s/TT/77/T7 or whatever in hell he limps with.

    3) raise PRF with weak limpers ahead of you. Good job someone is around to sort me out when I'm quite drunk (thanks neo) but will attempt to cope with this revelation. He bet $0.65 on the flop then $0.90 on the turn -- they're very weak bets begging to be drawn out on. Make it at least $1 on the flop allowing you to make a heftier bet on the turn to push him off his draw. Bet more, bet hard and bet fast. As it stands, you can only call his river bet or fold. I would call since I'm a calling station at the moment since I'm trying to get out of nitville. If you know this player is incapable of playing a set like this then I would even consider shoving the turn every time against this opponent because they will never call when you put their stack on the line with only 1 card on the come.

there's nothing wrong with the HH converter, just me unfortunately. Running bad since late January 2007 :(

Yeah, or more than likely me screwing up. I won't bother correcting it at this stage as the thread is pretty much finished.

Thanks for the advise guys. Good to hear that so many would have called in these situations. I thought looking back on them that 1 and 2 were definite folds, and possibly 3 as well. Sounds like the advise I'm getting says I should be raising more on nearly every street. I'll start upping the bets to closer to 4BB PF and to 3/4 pot on the flop, turn and river. Actually probably this exact reason that I lost hand 3.

    Anyway, heres what they had.

    1) AhQc
I only bet just under 1/2 pot on the flop as I hated to see that A. The river bet was pretty small which I suppose urged me on towards a call but I knew he probably had the A.

    2) 7c7s
He played it exactly as I would have expected him to play it and I still called. Most annoyed with this hand as I really think I should have just called PF and gave it up after I was reraised on the flop. Ended up playing a bigger pot with very little in my hand.

By the way, I bet $3.25 on the flop and he re raised. Messed it up using the hand converter.

    3) Kh9h
Maybe there wasn't a lot I could have done with this one apart from bet more on the flop and turn, and probably check on the river with the possible flush on the board. I wouldn't have thought raising this PF was the thing to do as I'm OOP and my hand isn't great. My line of thinking is probably wrong though.

Once again, I bet $.40 on the flop and he called. Don't know where the $0.60 came out of.

Thanks again for the advise, much appreciated.

    1. raise more pf. don't bet the flop.

    2. probably just call pf.

    3. seems ok. call river.
