Is this the one in Aldi? Looks pretty good, they even throw in an eSATA bracket in case your PC hasn't got eSATA, even though the device supports both USB 2.0 and eSATA anyway.

I don't know anything about the product itself, I wonder if it's actually a IQON drive or is it just branded IQON?

All of Aldi's drives to date were WD drives.

Anyway, if it is €140 Euro it beats all the other vendors.

Tesco Direct & UK vendors are selling it @ £147.97 Sterling??

The WD on komplett seems to be €135?

I love the way some people read half of the story & then elevate themselves to a total authoritarian state.

Ddoes1 was referring to the IQON SATA drive (Note the SATA part)

The price comparison was for that particular drive and not the WD on Komplett.

Now as you were so kind as to enlighten us all with the misleading price you quoted for the WD drive? I will correct it for you.

The WD Drive on Komplett is €135.01 plus the minimum delivery charge of €12 bringing the true price of the drive to €147.01 :D

Just purchased the drive from Aldi. The drive is a Samsung HD501LJ.
Tried connecting both as Sata and USB, Ran SI Sandra benmark program and reported 72 MB/s when connected as Sata and 33 MB/s as USB drive.
Works well would recommend for the price:D

Did you have any problems with the E-SATA connection? Windows XP is not detecting my drive when connected with E-SATA. USB seems to be fine.

I have an ASUS A8N32-SLI motherboard which has an external Sata port. The only thing I had to do was go into the bios , onboard devices cofig page and change from Sata Raid to Sata mode 2. There was also a bios setting on the main IDE config page but each Sata was already enabled

    regards

Found out what was wrong. I had to go into the BIOS and enable the SATA connection which the external HD is connected to.

Yes, USB will do too, the drive has both SATA & USB connections.
Eitherway they also include a I/O back plate bracket with the drive which can be installed on the PC for machines that don't have SATA so you can connect it via SATA.
