    Hi
I am interested in photography and I want to buy a camera between 500 and 800 euro.
I have been using a very basic sony cyber shot for 4 years and it is only 3.2 megapixels but it is really bad quality. (although have got a few good pics from it but nothing of printable quality as you can see from the attachment)
I want to invest in a good camera.
What is the canon on the title like? Do you have to buy lens to go with it or can you add different ones?
What should I be looking for as a beginner?

I would recommend Canon as a starter into dSLR's. I bought the predecessor to this the 350d in January and I haven't looked back. Kit lens get a bad name but if I were you I would buy the kit and get used to the camera first and decide what kind of lens you need. One that you could buy with the camera is a 50mm f1.8 Prime lens (its around €110-€120) which is a great one to learn the ropes with (and I love the quality of shots you get from it).

If you want to avoid the obvious choices the Pentax K100D is a good option.

Image stabilization and a very good kit lens.

Plus it's just about the best value entry level SLR out there.
    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/537608/art/pentax/k100d-18-55-mm-lens-carry.html

With 18-55mm lens it €565 for Pentax Vs. €800 for the Canon 400D on Pixmania.
You'd be getting feck all extra for your €235 IMO.

Don't worry about mega pixels. Unless you plan to print above A4 then 6 MP will be loads.

As gandalf said, a 50mm prime is a good investment. Loving my old second hand f1.4 50mm.

    Thanks guys
That canon I mentioned is on komplett now for €799. Is this a good price?
Are the lens that you get with it any good?

€799 seems about the average alright.

This is the 50mm lens I am talking about http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=321687

I would wait then if I were you and get used to the camera and then decide what additional lens to get.

I spent €700 on additional lens recently.

Man1, If you haven't already bought the 400D check out Argos - 770. You'll also get an 80 euro cashback form Canon making a net price of around 690. Just bought mine today from Argos complete with kit lens.

Canon, Nikon, Pentax...etc all make good cameras, it's the photographer and good lenses make the difference.

You are not only buying the camera, you are buying the system( lens, flash......). I think you won't go wrong with either Canon or Nikon.

Both Canon 400D and Nikon D80(D40x) are good cameras and there isn't much difference in terms of picture quality, functions and speed.
But, when you hold the two cameras you can feel the difference in your hand. My advice is go to a camera shop and try the two.

Don't just look at the techniqual terms, pick a camera you feel comfortable with and start shooting.
Sorry about my English, she is not so good.
